About Me
Hi! I’m your new therapist. There’s a lot of research that suggests that the relationship you and I are able to establish plays a big part in your healing. So, I figure you should know some things about me. I have two dogs, Chester (tan) and Ollie (black). They light up my heart. My favorite color is magenta. I play D&D–mostly casters. Before I became a therapist, I studied music. I have a Masters in Music Education from Columbus State University and taught singing lessons for years. For a brief stint, I was also a public school teacher. If you’re native to Columbus, you might’ve seen me onstage at the Springer Opera House. Musical theater is a lot of fun.
I’ve always been fascinated by people and how they relate to each other. Body language. Facial microexpressions. Translating the unspoken meaning behind what someone is saying when the person they are talking to isn’t picking up what they’re putting down. I probably could’ve guessed that I would be a therapist much younger. My favorite TV shows were Frasier and Star Trek: The Next Generation. I wanted to be Counselor Troi. I mean. Come on. But I didn’t actually start down the path until I was 37. The call to become a therapist just became louder and more exciting than anything else I’d ever heard.
I love being a therapist. Aside from just liking myself for who I am (work in progress), being a therapist is my favorite thing about me. I love therapy and all the ways it works in my own life. I listen to therapy podcasts, watch therapy shows and documentaries, and listen to audiobooks about therapy for fun. I’m a nerd. You might’ve guessed that earlier when I mentioned D&D and Star Trek. So, come sit down and chat with me. I’d love to get to know you better!
